Project Manager

Use your leadership and construction project management experience to lead a team building a $180m dollar retirement village.

  • Lead a $180 million dollar construction project
  • Work for the developer, designer, builder and operator
  • Deliver a construction project that makes a difference

Ryman Construction

Construction is different at Ryman - in fact everything is. We care about every detail. Which is why we design and build all our retirement villages ourselves, to ensure everything is perfect. To achieve this, we need the best construction people.

We know what you're thinking: whoever thoughts a construction worker could work in healthcare? Well, there are serious upsides, so if you have an open mind, read on.

Our land bank is the strongest it's ever been - we are about to move into our biggest ever build programme. We expect to have 12 sites under construction in the next 12 months. By the end of 2020, we plan to have five villages open in Victoria. Our goal is to keep the land banks in both countries at a supply of not less than 4 years.

From that point, we want to open four villages a year: two in Victoria, one in Auckland, and one somewhere else in New Zealand.

Rather than battling with clients, you can focus on delivering the best possible home for our residents. You'll finally have a stable job in construction. Most important, we never cut corners, because we've cut out the middle men, instead!

You'll also get paid well and have access to our employee share scheme.

We have a simple mantra at Ryman construction, happy sites lead to happy lives. Hopefully this speaks for itself.

The Project

The site is approximately 4.554ha. The finished Village will have approximately 380 units and will have 7 wings of 22 apartments of 2 levels. There will also be 7 blocks of 1 level townhouses. The buildings will also have basements as well as a base isolation system. The whole site will be serviced by 2 tower cranes.

Ryman villages include independent living in apartments or townhouses and assisted living in serviced apartments. Residents enjoy amenities such as an all-weather bowling green, heated indoor swimming pool, cafe, hair and beauty salon and cinema, to name just a few.

Your role

Reporting to a Regional Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, high-quality and timely delivery of a $180m project. Safety is our number one priority and it's your job to make sure everyone gets home safely, every day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the project operates with safety as a key focus at all times
  • Motivating and inspiring the sites teams to deliver work to a high standard
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing teams
  • Working with the inhouse design and sales teams to accommodate design changes and resident requests.

About you

  • A team player - you value contributing to the success of those around you more than your personal achievements
  • You will be an experienced Project Manager who has delivered multi-million dollar commercial or multi-unit residential construction projects as a contractor
  • You enjoy leading people and are as passionate about their development as you are about delivering great buildings
  • You will have second to none project delivery experience and proven experience with planning and programming
  • You are flexible and adaptable and adjust your style to work effectively with a variety of people

If you want to combine your passion for leadership with your ability to deliver a large and challenging construction project, we would love to hear from you.

At Ryman, everything we do has to be 'good enough for mum' (or dad), which is a pretty high standard. If you think you can rise to this challenge, apply now.
